Dear Colleagues and Friends,
On 5, 6 and 7 October of 2016 the LIV Annual Meeting of the Spanish Society for Neurophysiology (SENFC) together with the British Society for Clinical Neurophysiology (BSCN) will be held in Malaga.
The meeting will take place in the Hotel NH Malaga, which is in the centre of Malaga. It is close to calle Larios and the historic city centre, and is very well connected by public transport. The Hotel NH Malaga is ideal for this meeting, with as it is bright and roomy, with suitable halls and will moreover allow us to work efficiently.
The organising committee is the Department of Clinical Neurophysiology of the Regional University Hospital of Malaga, formerly known as ‘Carlos Haya’.
The meeting is composed of round tables on controversial aspects of our speciality, with expert moderators in each area. The panel of experts will briefly introduce each subject, after which paradigmatic cases will be presented followed by a discussion. This structure will allow all of those attending to participate, thereby encouraging the enriching exchange of opinions and experiences in different clinical situations.
The round tables cover different areas of specific training in our speciality within selected subjects. These are connected with emerging physiological techniques in diagnostically challenging clinical situations, without forgetting the practical side of the workshops and the presentation of research work in open communication sessions.
A practical, rigorous and high quality program has been prepared, thanks to the selfless effort and work of all the speakers and moderators, who are excellent and accredited professionals.
The success of any scientific meeting is based on achieving harmony between updating and publishing knowledge while encouraging interpersonal contacts and the attendance of the greatest possible number of participants. Thanks to the effort and energy of everyone taking part in our annual meeting (the organising committee, the board of directors of the SENFC, sponsors and participants) we hope to maintain the quality and high number of participating neurophysiologists of previous meetings, to continue strengthening our speciality.
Malaga is a tourist destination that is an open, welcoming and multicultural city with a very broad range of leisure offers, not only on the beach due to its magnificent climate, but also cultural (with the Picasso, Thyssen, Guggengeheim, Russian, Automobile and Customs Museums, together with the Revello Bullfighting museum. It offers exhibitions, concerts, theatre, music concerts and shows), sports (golf and water sports), shopping (fashion, art, antiques and souvenirs) and also of course gastronomic experiences, without forgetting how interesting and marvellous it is to walk down its streets or visit nearby cities and towns. These are on the coast: Marbella, Nerja…., as well as inland, with Ronda and the White Towns …
I hope that you will feel curious enough to check that all of the above advantages are in fact true, and that we will be able to fulfil all of the expectations, yours and ours, that have been created. I also hope that your stay in our city will be fully worthwhile, both scientifically and personally.
We will meet in October, and await you all.
Thank you very much, and with my very best wishes,
Victoria Fernández Sánchez
President of the Organising Committee
